In loving memory and honor of "Fat Head" and "Legion" our rescue is on a mission to make sure that beautiful dogs like these get the second chance they deserve!

All of our dogs are up to date on vaccinations, heart worm tested, and spayed/neutered before they are placed up for adoption. Approved adoption application and home inspection required before placement. We also do extensive testing with all of our dogs to assure they are placed into the appropriate forever home.

Adoption fees vary for each dog, we are not in this to make money only to cover our cost and allow us to pay veterinary bills as well as continue to rescue dogs in need. Minimum adoption fee is 50.00 and maximum adoption fee is 150.00. There is a two week trail with each dog and you will be fully re-imbursed should you decide this dog is not the one for your family. Part of our adoption contract also states that he/she must be returned to VPFP if you are no longer able to care for the dog or do not want him/her.  

Paws for Pits relies on Foster Homes to provide a safe nurturing environment for each dog. We do not have a physical shelter, at this time. Our foster homes are provided by volunteers who open there homes and hearts to these unwanted dogs. Some dogs posted on this sight are located in other areas and networked on this website. Please contact us and we will forward your information to the correct rescue.

Some dogs need special rehabilitation, training and extensive medical care which is paid for by the organization. We work closely with the Augusta Regional SPCA, the Spay Neuter Clinic in Harrisonburg, Woodworth Animal Hospital, and several other local Veterinary clinics to provide the best and most affordable care for our dogs.
